David,
   This is a very real world example for me as well.  We are currently working on createing a new ESB that will accept, among other things, inbound 834 data for Membership processing.  

   Very nice to see our thoughts and ideas validated by someone else.  Also nice to see that the JBossESB will be something that we can use in the near future.
