[jboss-dev-forums] [Design of JBoss Portal] - 2.6 Usability Enhancements

The items below, encompass all ui-related tasks for 2.6. Feel free to comment and discuss any of the points.

1. Portal Theme
- agree on the look and feel
- take the design and make a CSS from the Photoshop file
- should be #1 priority

2. Portlet Usability
- totally revamp the portlet UI : Cobb mockups will do.
- implement the designs for the: CMSAdmin, Management, User, and Role Portlets.

3. Dashboarding: several people will be involved - determination needed!
a. Define the backend capabilities (Julien) :
- window position, page theme, portal theme, portlets on a page...
- user can modify all pages? Some pages? The entire portal instance ?
- etc...
b. User view (roy/Cobb): Define how the user will be able to modify the
page(s) :
- Is it a personalization portlet? It is something embedded on every page that users can use?
c. AJAX :
- Define the AJAX library to use for drag-n-drop windows, and how it will interface with the backend API (Julien for the interaction with the
backend)
- Unit test AJAX capabilities in the major browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari).
- Need to be simply disable for accessibility reasons.
d. Portal configuration (Julien, can you define this?)
