For clarification, the probelm is not specific to JBMS.  You will have to come up with a reliable storage solution for any mail server.  One configuration is to have JBMS use something locally for the queue persistence, but that has its own reliability issue.  Ultimately you need to decide what your tollerance for failure is and pick a storage solution that meets those needs.
