Isn't this just a classic layering issue.  We need to keep the core ESB code 100% deployment agnostic.  That even includes MC and OSGi.  That way, these integration/deployment layers can be layered on top, removed, replaced etc without placing any additional requirements on the core ESB code.  Of course, that's always easier in theory than in practice :-)
