I had the smae problem until I put 

 "$JBOSS_HOMEclient/logkit.jar"
 "$JBOSSLIB/jacorb.jar"
 "$JBOSSLIB/commons-logging.jar"
 "$JBOSSLIB/avalon-framework.jar"


in the client classpath
