This would just be another deployer that ran ahead of the tomcat deployer to parse any portlet metadata. The real todo is getting tomcat to accept an object metadata model rather than parsing the descriptors itself to allow for extension of behavior via alternate metadata sources.

Which part? The mc and vdf core are independent of jboss5.
