As I had to spend some significant amount of time to solve this issue, I don't want others to do the same. It looks like the entire issue is just because of the browser plugin. I had "Java console" plugin for IE 6, but when I upgraded it to IE 7, I lost the Java Console. It started working fine after I installed the Java Console.
