It's worth noting that I can see a argument in favour of factoring out JMX from HASingletonSupport.

For example, you could factor sending JMX HASingletonSupport when stop-being/becoming master by injecting this aspects via AOP as the forum thread in the JIRA suggests. But then again, does it make sense for HASingletonSupport to be a Pojo?
