OK - thanks. Tuning the -Xms and -Xmx JVM arguments (I read your important notice on the last page of the JVMTI Module documentation about three times larger mem for analysis) and removing all my web applications helped to turn down computation time for the heap snapshot analysis from hours/endless to 10 mins, which is at least acceptable ...

... looking forward to the next version (hoping that it still will be Java5 compatible) ...
