One thing I found is that the qualifier being case sensitive is really confusing ;-)

1.0.0-beta-3 > 1.0.0-Beta-4 :-)
1.0.0-beta-3 > 1.0.0-GA

Maybe we should stick to all lower case qualifiers to avoid typos causing problems.
