I did use XJC. It generates JavaBeans with JAXB annotations.

Jesper, what do you mean by a test with StAX? First, AFAIU, I'd have to add support for it in XB and Fast JAXB first. Second, ATM, I am more interested in performance comparison of the layer above the XML parser.
