I have released version 1.0.1.Final with the fix - you can use the AS upgrader to update your installation:  http://docs.jboss.org/ironjacamar/userguide/1.0/en-US/html/installation.html#installas http://docs.jboss.org/ironjacamar/userguide/1.0/en-US/html/installation.html#installas.

A couple of comments on your patch

* You should use org.jboss.jca.adapters.jdbc.extensions.novendor as the package name if it is a generic implementation
* I would call the class: SQLValidConnectionChecker
* "sql" => "SQL"
* "queryTimeout" => "QueryTimeout"
