there are several ways to prevent those: (See  http://tomcat.apache.org/connectors-doc/reference/workers.html http://tomcat.apache.org/connectors-doc/reference/workers.html).
socket_keepalive (the connection won't be closed).
worker.maintain should close the CLOSE_WAIT connections after it value elapes.
