I already posted it  https://community.jboss.org/message/779129#779129 above, the CXF client picks up the RESTEasy ServerResponse class from classpath instead of the CXF ResponseImpl. See also   http://cxf.547215.n5.nabble.com/ClassCastException-using-CXF-2-7-0-JAX-RS-Client-in-JBoss-AS7-tt5719483.html my post in the CXF user mailinglist where the JAX-RS API is suspected to cause this conflict.
