You're the man. Thank it worked. In case you're wondering why I'm doing this, it's to apply this:
 https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBPAPP-7498 https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBPAPP-7498

Basically, when talking to Microsoft's UDDI server, jbossws-native (and possibly variants) barfs when recieving the reply from MSUDDI because it doesn't not use an xml prefix on the envelope or body, thus a NPE.
