Just out of curiousity, what was really wrong with providing a URL to initial context?

I remember initial posts about AS 7 saying that the main reason for dropping it was that is was not in the Java EE and EJB specs, and JBoss wanted to explore alternative ways. Maybe I've missed a post, but I've never really seen an explanation that detailed what was really wrong with the URL approach.
