Yes, I want to support some side operations to report on patching history. Exactly what, TBD.  :) 

Re: attaching .cli files for pre/post action, can you file a feature request JIRA? I like the idea. I have my doubts it will make it in the first iteration of this feature, but you never know, and in any case I think it's a very good idea.
