As long as it's not you who determines whether a fix is simple, I'm okay

We should at least freeze and make the branching decision right away, 
because things can go pretty fast:

#953 and #954 are useless
#955 is aborted (for some reason)

I'm hoping we are now in frozen state?
The next commit should be either the rollback or a fix to bring things 
forward.
