Loopback (in UDP/TCP/TCP_NIO): may have to be run in *same* thread (not pick a different thread from thread pool) 
because it may already hold locks, and we want it to be able to re-acquire them.
  - Should loopback messages be copied, or do we send the original messages up the stack ?
  - Should koopback messages be placed into the thread pool (OOB or regular), or simply be passed back up
    on the same thread ?
