I'll investigate, but I'm not aware of any other Java API to use for this
purpose. There is a way to query the local IP address as seen over the network,
but this is a potentially very expensive (e.g. several seconds) call.

I might consider allowing the user to in the end change the host to an ip of their choice, however, to do so may eventually confuse the AS bridge when I eventually do gain support for remote instances. It may end up treating your locally hosted instance as a remote instance and suffer from reduced functionality because of it (ie functionality available to remote instances as opposed to the increased functionality of local)

This will all remain to be seen. Things will be much more firm and decided upon by the 2.0 final release.
