The class NagiosStandaloneHeartbeat just contains a constructor. How are we going to integrate? Is there an API to use. 

Once I implemented a component sending a heartbeat message to a Netsaint monitoring server. I was communicating with it using sockets. Is this the way we want to integrate with Nagios (former Netsaint) too?
