Thanks for the test case, that's a big help.  From what I can tell, the Hibernate Entity Manager is vetoing the transaction commit during the beforeCompletion Synchronization processing, probably when flushing the SQL statements through to the database.  That's consistent with my previous comment. I'll try to squeeze the updates for this in before the TS 4.2.3.GA release.
