I'm looking at creating an implementation of this feature that pulls the graph structure into another package that does layouts and then generating move commands. Is that a viable approach or is there a specific set of algorithms you'd need to use? I would then simply include a button or menu item to apply the layout(s). I may have some time over the next month or so to put it together.
