Actually, if we change
mc_addr.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(mc_addr_str); // <===
to
mc_addr.sin_addr.s_addr = inet_addr(mc_addr_str); // <=== htonl to inet_addr !
it works (tested on Linux and MacOSX) !
So now we have to investigate why this doesn't work in Java...
