Manik Surtani commented on JBCACHE-1100:
----------------------------------------
Regardless of local or remote calls, when the cache does not have CacheStatus of STARTED it will throw an IllegalStateException.
The check is also done in the beforeCompletion and afterCompletion methods of the Synchronizations so they barf as well if the cache is not STARTED. Committing a tx when the cache is not in it's STARTED state will result in a RollbackException. Rolling back a tx in such a state will result in no exception though, since the TransactionManager deals with exceptions during rollback.
> Cache states should be considered before any call is invoked, rejecting calls if the cache state is not RUNNING.
