Sorry, made a mistake. The phrase that starts with "That means that successive values..." should read like this :

"That means that successive values for, say, the JBPM_TASK table ID can be as far away from each other as 1 from 1500 (given that the same sequence generator is used for the lines in the JBPM_LOG table too). "

(the phrase used initially JBPM_PROCESSINSTANCE as an example but I find that JBPM_TASK illustrates better the point as it is typically a user-related table).
