I read up on this and Stevens [1] says for bind() that
"A process can bind a specific IP address to its socket. The IP address must belong to an interface *on that host*" (emphasis added).

This clearly forbids binding to a class D address, as a network interface cannot have a class D address.

I'll close this issue unless someone shows me how we can bind to a class D address on Windows.
