So the compatibility testsuite now tests jboss 4.2.x against the older 4.0.4/4.0.5 when using the unified invokers. To access previous jboss version with the unified invokers patches would be necessary in those older version, so we want to avoid that.

After 4.2.0.GA we'll enchance the testsuite to cover testing the classic/legacy rmi invokers for accessing the older jboss versions.
