All it does is encapsulate create/start/stop/destroy so various subinterfaces can save four lines of code.  Problem is the subinterfaces that use it can reasonably declare different exception types, forcing LifeCycle to say "throws Exception".  That makes using LifeCycle in any kind of utility code unworkable.
