Okay, I see the "shrinking" behavior in the http://portal.demo.jboss.com/auth/dashboard/default build online, and the behavior is certainly different from what I see in Firefox. When I click on either the minimize/maximize icon but hold the mouse button, I see that the portlet shrinks in size a wee bit and when I release the button, the event doesn't ever get triggered. In firefox though, after I release the button (regardless of how long I hold it), the event does get triggered.

Now, how this is tied to the disappearing portlet, I am yet to be able to prove but they are undoubtedly related in my case as commenting out the above line (AJAXFooter) and doing this, doesn't ever cause a problem..
