Yes, depending on what AOP is doing, it is possible that it is interfering with shadow proxies, that are also generated bytecode.

If you can provide a simple test showing the problem, even if it requires SpringAOP, I can try to find what is happening. I am not a Spring expert though, so, please I ask you to create it self contained, and zip it all, including dependencies (except for drools dependencies, of course), in a way that I can run it out of the box, saving some time.
