I agree.  Additionally, I have been looking to incorporate the tests-matrix for AS 5.0 considering the client/server combinations:
1) 4.2.x jdk5 ==> 5.0 jdk5
2) 4.2.x jdk6 ==> 5.0 jdk6
3) 4.2.x jdk5 ==> 5.0 jdk6

The tests-matrix test targets and associated sources were removed from jbossas/trunk.  Is there some history of why that was deliberately done?
With the client/server combination of #1) above, all tests fail due to:
2008-08-21 14:09:51,900 ERROR [org.jboss.remoting.transport.socket.ServerThread] (WorkerThread#0[127.0.0.1:53720]) WorkerThread#0[127.0.0.1:53720] exception occurred during first invocation
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jboss.invocation.MarshalledValueEX
        at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200)
