install jboss-5.0.0.CR1
edit ...server/default/deployers/jbossweb.deployer/web.xml
activate ssi servlet (uncomment appropriate sections)
edit .../server/default/deploy/jbossweb.sar/context.xml
grant privilege=true in <Context> tag
start jboss
log shows:

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: 
             org.apache.catalina.ssi.SSIServlet
