That sounds like a much better idea - not sure when I would ever get around to this TBH - so that project sounds awesome (I also know very little about maven). 
Rainer want to assign this to you and it can be a pointer to your project? at some point when you think its suitable, we could add it to the distribution for the drools flavour. 

FYI JSR-94 may not be able to cope with all the nuances of different rule engines, something to keep in mind, may need to have different adapters or something.
