I can help if this will also pop-up with the new classloading, since that's what I've been working on.
But I have little clue about the old UCL, just what we had to write to mock the behavior in the new classloading.

Scott is the right person for this, since he did most of the UCL work.
But I don't know what the appropriate forum would be for such issues. 
Perhaps opening new JIRA in JBAS?
At least to get rid of that NPE, which is always a sign of bad code.
