Communication between 32 bit Windows and 64 bit Linux worked without problems.

If you want me to look into issue with 64 bit Windows and 64 bit Linux, you have to provide me either access to a 64 bit Windows box or a VMWare image of it, so I can test this here. If that's the case, please re-open this JIRA issue and provide a link where I can download the VMWare image.
