After looking through the cms code I made sure the exception is not spitting an unnecessary message. 

The exception message generated by the core jems component and is needed to signify that the call to the singleton node on the cluster failed due to a communication failure.

there are other messages it spits out that are set at debug level. So there was a reason Julien elected to make this at error level.

To fix the logs however, you can modify the log4j.xml configuration to set the proper logging level for the :
org.jboss.portal.jems.ha.HASingletonInvoker component
