Are you trying to use logback exclusively and bypass the container logging system?  If that's what you want to do, you'll have to set up your deployment to use its own classloader which filters out slf4j from the container, and include that in your own JAR.  Search for jboss-classloading.xml on the wiki, or ask on the AS 5 user forum, for more info about that.
