We have upgraded SMACK to be a full retransmit protocol for multicast and have been running it in production now for 3 months with great success.  We see a bunch of multicast retransmits in the jconsole numbers which is especially bad given that Sequoia (our db substrate) uses multicast messaging everywhere.
