AS-4.x used to log a message to the console to indicate that any dynamic changes to the jboss-log4j.xml have been picked up. This message is now logged at DEBUG level and hence does not (by default) appear on console. Logging this at INFO level would help users to see a confirmation that their changes to jboss-log4j.xml have been picked up dynamically.
