This comes from the way prototype serializes forms with multiple submit input fields. See http://groups.google.com/group/prototype-core/browse_thread/thread/b3ced6a52dd5968b?pli=1 for a discussion of the issue. I have started working on dyna.js to try to inject the value of the clicked submit by observing submit inputs onclick events but can't get it to work so far and my javascript-fu is limited... :(
