Actually ...

If two separate EARs declare the same paths for their WARs, it will fail, and it's normal.

The default path seems to be the war name (without the ear name), so the two mappings will conflict and the realm service name is right to conflict as well. However, it would be ok to add in the host to some service names, since that's valid - if the two wars actually go into separate vhosts. I don't think that's what you were attempting though ...
