Like discussed in this mailing list thread http://lists.jboss.org/pipermail/jboss-as7-dev/2011-February/000466.html currently if a deployment has missing service dependencies, it *doesn't* trigger a deployment failure. As a result, the runtime invocation on the component results in exceptions (which are a side-effect of deployment issues).
