The Runtime Name config can actually have this effect in a limited way, if it is just a .war file and there is no jboss-web.xml included that specifies the context path.

If you deployed xyz-123-v1.war and gave it a runtime name of foo.war, JBoss Web will see it as "foo.war" and by default will give it a context path of /foo.

Anything more that that will require changes on the server side that will not happen in the 7.1 timeframe.
