Paul, can you build https://github.com/dmlloyd/jboss-modules/commit/cc44a84eeaf1ae0c9aeef2c944d9053f08c1e04e and take the resultant JAR, and drop it in to your build output directory as jboss-modules.jar and tell me if the issue goes away?
