The mod_cluster subsystem configuration won't display this value by default, since the jvmRoute is auto-generated.  While we could certainly add a management operation to mod_cluster to display the auto-generated value, my opinion is that the web subsystem is the more appropriate (and more generic, i.e. for mod_jk/mod_proxy setups) location for this.
Oh, can I completely agree that the term "jvmRoute" is ripe for a rename.
