Andy, one other thing to note in cases like these, is that if the server isn't able to communicate back to the client of any exceptions like these, then the client can end up waiting indefinitely. EJBCLIENT-33 introduces a feature where you can set a "invocation.timeout" property in the properties file to specify a timeout in milli seconds. This timeout value will be used as the "wait timeout" for EJB invocations. If the server doesn't respond back within that amount of time for a client invocation, then the client throws back a TimeoutException for that specific invocation and won't wait forever. You might want to set an appropriate timeout value in your application. This feature is available in AS7 upstream (but not in ER5).
