I want to remember Mr.Stan to review the JSF 2.1 Specification, as shown in the Version 2.1, final Draft, 20101108, page 10-15, Topic 10.4.5 - "Faces exposes a subset of the JSTL core tag library...". The VLDDocs specified in the mentioned library includes the catch tag. So it should work correctly
