Bela Ban commented on AS7-1908:
-------------------------------
My concern is that AS7 uses a JGroups configuration that's different from JGroups' native configuration !
A typical use case will be that a user has clustering problems, and support asks me to look into the JGroups part, however, I'll have to convert the config first.
Or a user wants to use a JGroups native configuration, that was tested standalone successfully, into AS&, and has to convert it first.
For the record: I think the decision to maintain a JGroups schema in AS7 that's different from JGroups' native schmema is a very bad decision !
A conversion tool will only help to a certain degree, because when users send or post the AS7 JGroups config, I'll always have to tell them to convert it first !
A half-remedy would be to make JGroups understand the AS7-specific JGroups config, but the problem there is that the JGroups config in AS7 is spread over multiple files... e.g. port config is potentially in a different file.
A conversion tool is definitely needed, but it's only a band-aid on top of a bad solution !
