Fernando Nasser commented on AS7-2342:
--------------------------------------

We really need this to install on Linux following the FHS.

It happens that most things under domain/servers, including the domain/servers/<serverN> are
variable data that should be installed under perhaps different /var subdirecories under the FHS. In particular, log should go to /var/log, including each serverN log.

So if we have domain/log/<serverN> and domain/log is a link to /var/log that would be
living in /var/log/<serverN> as the FHS prescribes.

Same applies to tmp and data. Brian and I talked and the FHS seems to indicate that

tmp ->  /var/cache

data ->  /var/tmp

accordingly to the types of data and usage described in the FHS for those /var subdirs.

So a change in the default layout of the domain directory would help the RPM installation follow the FHS. The direcotries being configurable would allow customers to make different
arrangements if they so wish (on ZIP installations probably).

> See the attached screen shot, does it make sense to have the log files in each of the server/s directories, along with the log directory in the domain context. When first looking for log files, it was odd to cd to domain, and then cd to log and not see my server directories. For a long time JBoss user what we are doing does not probably hurt that much, but for a new user, having multiple log directories is a little odd. Does it make sense to have just one log directory. In this case:
> domain/log/server-one
> domain/log/server-two
> ...
> instead of
> domina/log
> domain/servers/server-one/log
> domain/servers/server-two/log
> ...
